We would like to share with you our personal view, beliefs and approach about the research that is presented on these pages.
We both value the research of modern science and the many developments that have been discovered.
We also value the depth of wisdom and knowledge of traditional and classical five element acupuncture, which integrates the many aspects of body and mind.
We acknowledge the information gained from research, and we endevaour to use it where appropriate when meeting the needs of an individual who is suffering in health.
We hope later to share more information on the five elements of acupuncture.

Holgeir Skjeie et al. A pilot study of ST36 acupuncture for infantile colic
(Acupuncture in Medicine June 2011 Volume 29 Issue 2)
This was a pilot study to test the design of the research in preparation for a larger trial.
Of the seven babies, three were in the placebo group and four in the acupuncture group. The crying times were measured after 1 day, 1 week and 1 month in both groups.
'The percentage difference in reduction in the acupuncture and placebo groups were 62% and 31% after 1 day, 64% and 55% after 1 week, 79% and 61% after 1month.
The included numbers are small and not relevant for statistical analysis, but fulfil the clinical relevance criteria of 60 min difference between placebo and acupuncture group at 1 day and 4 weeks after the last treatment day.
No adverse events were reported.'

Conclusion. ' Standardised, light stimulation of the acupuncture point LI4 twice a week for three weeks reduced the duration and intensity of crying more quickly in the acupuncture group than in the control group. No serious side effects were reported.'
